How to Hide Dark Circles?

Most women have blemishes, dark patches or dark circles they want to hide. With the help of a little concealer and foundation - poof, they're gone!!

Here's how

Causes
Dark under-eye circles are a familiar problem for a lot of women. The purplish color along with puffiness is the result of tiny blood vessels that have poor circulation due to stress, lack of sleep or, unfortunately, heredity.

Homemade Dark circles Remedy - Try these remedies for treating dark circles under eyes

Dark Circles can be removed by applying peeled and grated potato overnight at least three times a week.

Grate a cucumber, squeeze to take out its juice and refrigerate. Make a mixture of lemon juice, lanolin cream and cucumber juice and apply around the eye for 10-15 minutes.

The most effective remedy for dark circles is also the most cliche. Thin slices of cucumber applied to your eyes not only helps to lighten the skin, but also soothes and cools the eyes. This can be especially comforting if you've been up late the night before or your eyes are red and tired from allergies or staring at a laptop screen.

Massage with almond oil under and around eyes at bed time daily for 2 weeks and see the improvement. Almond helps to remove dark circles, and is an excellent "skin food".

Place cotton wool swabs dipped in cold milk on closed eyes for removing dark circles for 10-15 minutes daily before sleeping.

Coconut oil massage daily for 5 minutes before sleeping will help will help you a lot in removing your dark circles.

The caffiene in tea bags acts as a remedy for dark circles by diminishing puffiness. Caffiene in tea helps to diminish water in the tissues around the eyes (you'll notice that many early eye circle creams contain caffiene for this very reason). In addition, tea contains antioxidants that are beneficial to the skin.

Warnings

  • Be careful about what type of teabag you use. If you have allergies a tea bag like chamomile might swell your eyes.
  • Do not apply ice or extremely cold water directly to the skin around the eyes for more than a couple of seconds.
  • Exercise caution when using a new cosmetic product or trying a home remedy. If the condition worsens, or if you exhibit other symptoms, discontinue use immediately and contact your primary care physician or dermatologist for severe or persisting symptoms.
  • Consult a physician before considering using any expensive or invasive treatments. Not all Eye Circles are formed equally, and understanding and discussing the root causes of your dark circles with a qualified professional will ensure you don't waste your money.

Makeup Tips

Concealers
Concealers are created with a denser composition and perfectly designed for their intended use. They are designed for small area coverage and are not the makeup product for full face application Foundation alone cannot be enough to cover your dark under eye circles as it is transparent. A quality concealer with a dry texture last the longest as the cream base can adhere to your skin. A liquid concealer tends to melt if the temperatures rise. Under Eye Concealers are available in formulas and consistencies that range from stick, cream, airbrush, pencil, and waterproof. Application tools vary with concealers applied by sponge or brush.

Color Choices
Trying to hide the circles under a light shade of concealer will create a white mask. That will not reduce the shadows but emphasize the dark area, instead of concealing them. Your skin tone will be your guide as to which shade of concealer will best suit you. It is safe to go one half to one shade lighter than your under eye circles. A golden toned concealer such as will counteract the blue-purple tones and look the most natural for you. Dark circle you can go with dropping down one full shade lighter but you will have to be much more cautious with blending when you apply .

Application
To hide dark under eye circles, select a cosmetic under-eye concealer that's one shade lighter than the foundation you're using. Understand that a pale yellowish concealer helps hide blue or grayish circles, while a light blue or mauvish concealer masks brownish under-the-eye bags.

Begin with a freshly washed and exfoliated face. Dab concealer under your eyes gently, using a soft circular motion. Apply foundation up to the concealer and blend the two shades together gently, using a circular motion to cover dark under eye circles. Finish with a dusting of untinted face powder for a polished, seamless look.

Avoid

  • Avoid concealers containing oils, because the oil will settle into the fine lines under your eyes and draw attention to the circles.
  • When using a cosmetic under eye concealer, wearing foundation is a must to avoid the "white mask" look.
  • Never use an over-the-counter facial and body cream bleach under the eyes to eliminate dark circles. Use only prescription creams administered under a doctor's supervision.
  • Always apply concealer gently--rubbing can cause swelling, redness or bruising of the under eye area.
