As the cool and fresh breezes have started to blow after the beautiful rains, this is warning for all of to start shopping for winters, Yup they are about to arrive.

The biggest trend which we will see whole winter season is the "cape". Cape has made a huge comeback the fall/winter season of 2010-2011. It was seen the most on almost every ramp.

Cape was first invented in 19^th century but they were not able to hit the ramps and fashion stores at that time. Cape can be used to describe any sleeveless outer garment, such as a poncho, but usually it is a long garment that covers only the back half of the wearer, fastening around the neck

In the 19^th century cape was just used as a garment to protect from the weather not to make any bold style statement, it was wore over the evening gowns.

But now for this season if you really want a piece that can make you a complete style statement then you must buy a cape. They are not only stylish, versatile but also in trend.

But you should be aware that a cape makes you look voluminous, so you be careful before buying one that you can carry it or not. And if your figure is not allowing you to buy a cape and still you are desperate to follow the trend then just don't worry I have a solution for that too, just buy a cape with belt on it.

Some points which you should always keep in mind while following this trend. For giving a nice look wear a cape with skinny pants, pencil skirt, leggings, fitted dress or long skirt. Cape-sleeves shirts and cardigans take a front seat in fashion whilst short capes, shawls and stoles are perfect for party wear.

This season capes come in a wide variety, sizes and fabrics from silk and wool to velvet and fur.

One should be careful of their body sizes while selecting a cape. For e.g. A short height women should buy a cape coat that ends up on their waist because a long cape will make them look much shorter and to give your cape a perfect look team it up with short skirts or shorts with tights. And petite women's don't have to worry at all as they can wear any type of cape.

No don't get confused I am not teaching you how to walk in army, am just teaching you how to walk in fashion because a military trend is the new fashion statement for the spring/summer year 2010. This trend is the latest blockbuster in fashion world this year, was seen everywhere on the runway, and will be seen on the local streets whole year.

Military trend was initially popularized during the 60s, only as a protest to the Vietnam War. And as nothing hides away from fashion followers it also spread rapidly as a mode of fashion; with the hippies taking all its credit. Trench coats, berets, and jackets have enjoyed seasons of popularity in the past, and camouflage was a hot favorite; especially for teenagers. Military fashion as a trend is nothing new, but while fashion trends tend to burn out within a few years, the women's military fashion trend isn't going anywhere, though like all true fashion trends, in 2010 the military trend will evolve.

Fashion outfits in khaki, green, and olive commands the season's attention with patterns reflecting the military uniform. Green and grey are dominant colors in the palette. Strict sharp forms with too little femininity look pretty on women but I would never call that stylish. Burberry Prorsum items are also included though they hardly belong to the military style.

This trend is seen in various formal dresses. Trends of military fashion for 2010 are mostly inspired by the military uniforms of the 20th century. Napoleon styled jackets with high stand collars, hussar influenced garments with a gold border, and admiral coats with an air of command in it. Women generally do not prefer a boxy look or the hard military look as in mens style. Buckles, snaps, and fringes are included in their apparel.

Don't get confused my dear fashionistas, I haven't changed my profession, I am not here give you love tips because I am only good @ giving fashion tips, I am just saying these line because the valentine day is coming, the day which makes you feel special because it is special occasion for everyone who is in love and on this special day you have to look your best, and as always I am here to help you.

I always tell what should you wear, but today I will tell you what should you not wear this valentine.

The first and the most important thing you should keep in mind is, wear what makes you feel comfortable or what suits you, going on date doesn't means going on red carpet, otherwise besides giving attention to your spouse, you will only be giving attention to your dress.

Secondly, remember its just valentine day….not your wedding day, so, keep your make-up very minimal, guys like girls with natural beauty.

Thirdly, don't go for too loud hairstyles, try to avoid wigs, just keep your hair simple, go for a straight hair look or layers or few curls will also help.

That little black dress looks sexy and suits every occasion, but this valentine don't wear anything that is too short and revealing.

I know girls you like wearing harem pants, they make you very comfortable but girls don't you dare wear them on valentine day, you are not going to hang around with you college friends.

Whatever you wear, please don't wear flats with them, they are in fashion but for that day heels are perfect but don't extend you heels more than 3 inches.

And now as I have told you what not to wear, I think I should give you a few tips on what should you wear.
If you are going on a dinner that day, than wear a one piece dress but not too long and not too short, it should be knee length.

And if you are going out in day time than jeans will do the best with a nice cute top, it can be a one shoulder top, or bell sleeve or bishop sleeve top.

BACK IN FASHION- DUNGAREES TREND 2010

You must be thinking that it's still shivering and I am telling you the summer trends, but my readers and bloggers get an advantage of staying one step forward than the others, and it's high time to start buying summer clothes as they just going to arrive soon.

In the year 2010, the biggest and stylish comeback has been made by Dungarees; yes they are back in fashion and that too with a bang…..!!!!! That means with innovative styles.

These are trousers with an attached front patch covering the chest and with attached braces which go over the shoulders. Often people use the word "overall" for the bib type garment only and not for a boiler suit.

The term "dungaree" was associated with a coarse undyed calico fabric that was made and sold in a region near Dongari Killa (also called Fort George) in Bombay (now Mumbai) in India.

But I know you are very less interested in its history, the latest new is dungarees are back in again! With a high waist, these jeans were made to wear with braces in an old-school style that draws inspiration from the rodeo look as well as Seventies trends.

Dungarees can be considered a universal garment, because they are worn by millions of people all over the world.

Commonly known as jumper skirts, the versatile dungaree has bounced back. Many fashion-conscious collegians are now switching from their blue denims to colorful dungaree skirts. Available in many colors, these feminine jumpers are a common sight in colleges today.

* Or just embellish it in your own style like paste on it patches, flowers, feathers, stones, chains or whatever you are fond of, whatever you like, you can even paint on it by using fabrics colors, paint your favorite cartoon or quotations…just explore your imagination. In this way you will not have to spend a lot, and you can stay updated with trends.

Designers has given new birth to the cotton, now most of the fashion garments are made with cotton from tops, shirts, skirts, dresses, gowns, trousers, you just have to think about cotton and you will find garment of your choice.

It is an advantage of cotton that it can be mixed with any other type of fabric and can work miracles. Cotton has many forms like organic cotton and that is called the cotton of new era.

APPLIQUE WORK FOR YOUR WARDROBE

Fashion is the second name of innovation, designers and fashion followers always tries to bring new things and ideas in the fashion world but this is also a place where " the old is always gold".

The old fashion doesn't loose its grip and keeps coming back again and again in a fresh way.

Today I am talking about appliqué work, it is a technique of embroidery which was introduced in India years ago but as history repeats itself, fashion too, the appliqué work is back on the ramp, the stores everywhere.

Now- a-days you will find not only clothes with appliqué work but handbags and even footwear is also decorated with the appliqué work.

Appliqué is an ancient cultural art using fabric. The designs created can be for clothing, items of religious significance, banners or quilts

Appliqué means to "place on" fabric pieces that are sewn onto a larger piece of foundation fabric in order to create designs. This kind of craft is often done when the design has to be seen from a distance.

This is a simple method which you can do yourself also; just follow the few simple and easy steps-

1. Draw Your Appliqué Design

The first you need is a design to appliqué. A simple design with straight sides is easiest for beginners, so consider starting with a block. Either draw your design on the plain paper, or trace the design onto the tracing paper. Keep in mind that the finished appliqué will be a mirror image of your tracing.

2. Trace onto the Iron-On Adhesive

Place the iron-on adhesive on top of your design, paper side up, and trace your design onto the adhesive. If your design is made up of more than one element, you will need to trace each section separately.

If there are sections next to each other, you need to decide which will go on top of the other. When tracing, extend the line of the bottom section about 1/4 inches where it touches the top one. This will allow you to layer the sections so there won't be any gaps in between them.

3. Rough Cut the Design

After your design pieces are traced, you need to separate them from the rest of the adhesive. Cut around your tracing lines, about 1/2 to 1 inch away from the lines.

4. Choose Your Fabrics

This is one of my favorite steps - choose the fabric for each section. To make selecting easier I separate my fabrics into color families. Cotton woven fabrics are the easiest to work with, although you may want to experiment with other fabrics as you gain experience. Beware of fabrics that fray because they often shred when laundered and thicker fabrics like corduroy or velvet may be too difficult for some machines to handle smoothly.

5. Fuse the Fabric to the Adhesive

Heat your iron according to the directions that came with the adhesive. When the iron is hot, place the preshrunk fabric right (front) side down on your ironing surface and press to remove any wrinkles. Be sure to put the side you want to use face down so you're looking at the back of the fabric.

6. Cut out the Sections

Cut out each section, following the tracing lines carefully.

7. Remove the Adhesive Backing

Carefully peel the paper backing from the iron-on adhesive. If the backing is difficult to separate from the adhesive, tear the edge of the paper a little to get things started, or use a fingernail to separate the paper from the fabric.

8. Iron the Appliqué to Your Item
Place the appliqué, adhesive side down, on the item you're going to apply it to and arrange the sections to match your pattern. If you have several pieces you may need to look at the pattern to remember how the sections fit together. When the appliqué looks the way you want it to, iron it down according to the directions that came with the adhesive.

9. Add Some Details
using the water soluble pen or pencil, draw in any details you wish to add to the appliqué.

10. Stabilize with Interfacing
Cut a piece of tear-away interfacing large enough to cover the entire appliqué with a border of about 1/2 - 1 inch. Place the interfacing on the wrong side of the item you're appliquéing, under the appliqué. Now this part is a little tricky - holding the interfacing tightly, flip the item over and pin the interfacing on from the front.

Stitch Your Appliqué

Now comes the fun - stitching! Use a Satin stitch if your machine has it, otherwise use a Zig Zag stitch and decrease stitch length until the threads are sewn right next to each other. Line the appliqué up so the raw (unstitched) edge is in the middle of your presser foot and start stitching. Go slowly at first, until you gain some confidence. Slow down as you approach a curve or corner so you don't overshoot the edge.

Trim the Threads

When you're all done stitching carefully trim the loose threads as close to the fabric as you can without cutting the fabric or stitching. I trim the font first because any tiny ends are usually pulled to the back when I grab those threads to trim them. Using a small, sharp scissors makes it easier to trim closely.

Remove the Interfacing

Remove the interfacing by tearing along the stitching. Your needle will have perforated the interfacing so it should come away fairly easily. Use a fingernail along the stitching to get things started, but do not use your scissors or anything sharp as it might poke through the appliqué.

So, you can make or do appliqué work on your clothes and bags yourself by picking up any item which you haven't tried from a long time. Just take that out from your wardrobe and do it yourself.

By doing this you can keep your wardrobe updated in this recession period also. But, if you think you don't have time for all these things, just don't you can find dresses, tops, jackets and handbags with appliqué work very easily in each and every market and store.

Holi Special Recopies – Gujiya

Ingredients:
500 gms maida (flour)
1kg khoya
3 tbsps kismis (raisins)
200 gms almonds (cut into thin strips)
6 tbsps cooking oil. ( keep some more aside for deep frying)
200 ml water
500 gms sugar.

Method:

Mix the six tablespoons of oil with the maida.
Now add some water as required and knead into soft dough.
Set aside and cover with a damp cloth.
Fry khoya in a deep-frying pan to a light brown color.
Add sugar, almonds and kismis into the khoya and mix well.
Remove from the fire and let it cool.
Roll out the kneaded dough into a small and thick chapatti.
Fill half the chapati with the khoya mixture and seal the round, twisting the edges inwards.
Deep-fry these gujhias to a deep golden brown color on slow flame.
Take them out with a sieve type ladle and drain the oil completely.

Note - Makes about 40 gujhias.

Gently dry the area with a paper towel or plain white napkin. (Bacteria can stay in cloth towels.)
Do steps 1-5 twice a day until the skin heals. (Over-washing or over-scrubbing can irritate the area.)
Do NOT use antibacterial ointments because they don't allow air to get to the area and they trap bacteria.

How to prevent infections after piercing

Preventing infections is really not hard. It shouldn't take a lot of your time to keep your piercing clean and the good news is, you won't have to worry about complications if you keep it clean.

Do NOT use alcohol or Peroxide to clean the area. (Both products will dry out your skin.) Other strong solutions such as Betadine will discolor gold jewelry.
Rinse the pierced skin after exercising since sweat may irritate the piercing.
Keep the pierced area from coming in contact with other people's body fluids, such as saliva and sweat. (Do not have oral sexual contact for 4-6 weeks if you have a tongue, lip, or genital piercing).
Keep things clean that come in contact with the body part that has been pierced. For example, keep your phone clean if you have an ear piercing, keep your glasses clean for ear and eyebrow piercings, cover your ear lobe with a tissue if you use hair spray, and try not to apply makeup close to piercing sites.
Wear clean clothing with soft fabric for navel piercings. Avoid wearing jeans because the material can be irritating.
Don't wear pantyhose, leotards, belts, or tight clothing while a navel piercing is healing.
Wear loose fitting clothing with a navel piercing, to let the air help with healing.
Check your jewelry many times during the day to see if any parts have become loose, especially if you have a tongue piercing. If a bar becomes loose, you can accidentally swallow it or damage a permanent tooth.
Do NOT use a hot tub or swim in public pools until your piercing has healed.
Rinse tongue or lip piercings after every meal or snack. Rinse for 30 to 60 seconds after eating with an antibacterial, alcohol-free mouthwash, or a warm salt water rinse. Or, alternately, make a mix with one part water, and one part hydrogen-peroxide, and apply it directly to the piercing site with a cotton swab. The bubbling peroxide can help remove food stuck in the site.
Throw out your old toothbrush and get a new, soft-bristled toothbrush if you have a tongue or lip piercing. This is to avoid exposure to bacteria from your old toothbrush.
See your dentist for regular checkups and if you think you have a problem. Studies have shown that people who have piercings in their mouth are much more likely to have injuries to their teeth and gums.

In the seventies the immense popularity of platform shoes had orthopedic and podiatry surgeons worried as more and more cases of foot injury were reported. It is no surprise that during this time, when disco ruled, platforms were also called as "the elevated orthopedic nightmare". When first introduced it had a heel only two inches high. The young generation of those turbulent times was known for its excesses, be it in sex, drugs, music, or alternate lifestyle. Excesses in fashion and footwear were also widely seen. Platforms that originally were designed with two inch heels soon appeared with heels and platforms that were five or six inches high. Hospitals in Europe and North America were routinely treating young people for injuries like twisted ankles, broken ankles, hammertoes, bunions, calluses, etc. Thankfully the mid-eighties saw the return of sobriety and platforms went out of fashion.

These shoes were popular not only amongst short and average height individuals but were also very popular amongst the tall. Today platforms are mostly used by women; men have a far better alternative - elevator shoes. So, why are platforms so bad for the feet? Well the answer lies in the weight distribution while walking. It has been established by studies conducted at several universities that the heel of the foot supports almost 60% of the weight, the forefoot supports 28% of the weight, the mid-foot supports only 8% of the weight and the toes support the remaining 4% of the weight. In platforms the heel and the forefoot are not supported by a thick padding to cushion the weight. In elevators the mid-insole and the height increasing insole both cushion and protect the feet.

Platforms are generally machine manufactured and hence will not always have a toe section that is wide enough to fit your toes. In contrast most elevators are custom made to accommodate the wearers toe section so that the toes are not compressed. The height increasing insoles and outer soles of the elevators are made of shock absorbent and flexible material while the outer soles of platforms are rigid.
